Chapter 11 - BLOOD AND REDEMPTION

|
Arthur Sterling rolled on the wet concrete, clutching his bleeding, mangled hand with frantic, agonizing shrieks.
His six private security guards immediately dropped their weapons, falling to their knees with hands locked behind their heads.
“Don’t shoot! We surrender! The contract is void!” the lead guard shouted into the rain.
Luca’s soldiers swarmed the loading dock like a disciplined wave of shadows, securing the perimeter in seconds.
Luca walked toward Arthur Sterling, who was writhing in the puddles like a wounded snake.
Luca kicked Arthur onto his back, planting his heavy leather boot directly onto the center of Arthur’s chest.
Arthur coughed violently, staring up at his son-in-law with terror that made him tremble uncontrollably.
“Luca... please... think of Vanessa... she’s your wife!” Arthur sputtered, spitting rainwater from his lips.
Luca leaned down until his face was inches from the terrified financier.
“My wife is currently sitting in a cold cell, waiting to be delivered to federal prosecutors,” Luca whispered.
“And you, Arthur, are going to spend the rest of your miserable life in a federal penitentiary for attempted murder, arson, and fraud.”
Luca turned his back on the pathetic man and walked directly toward his uncle.
Frank had already reached the iron mooring post, dropping his walking cane onto the concrete as he fell to his knees.
Frank’s trembling fingers worked frantically at the coarse ropes binding his brother’s wrists.
“Hold on, Anthony, I’ve got you,” Frank sobbed, his tears mixing with the rain on Anthony’s face.
“I’ve got you, little brother, you’re safe now.”
The ropes fell away, and Anthony collapsed directly into Frank’s waiting arms.
The two seventy-eight-year-old men clung to each other on the freezing concrete dock, weeping like young boys.
“I missed you every single day, Frank,” Anthony cried into his brother’s soaked coat.
“Every Thanksgiving, every Christmas, I sat in my small room wishing I was setting the table with you.”
Frank buried his face in Anthony’s neck, rocking him back and forth with fierce, protective love.
“Never again, Anthony,” Frank vowed through his tears.
“We are going home together, and nobody will ever separate us again.”
Luca stepped forward and knelt beside them, draping his own dry, heavy wool coat over both of their shoulders.
Anthony looked up at his nephew, his bruised eyes shining with profound emotion.
“You have your grandfather’s eyes, Luca,” Anthony whispered, reaching out to touch Luca’s cheek.
“He would be so proud of the man you’ve become.”
Luca offered a rare, genuine smile, taking his uncle’s cold hand into his own warm grip.
“Welcome home, Uncle Anthony,” Luca said softly.
Behind them, emergency sirens began wailing in the distance, cutting through the fading storm.
Federal law enforcement vehicles and ambulances, coordinated by Luca’s legal network, pulled onto the pier.
Arthur Sterling was hauled to his feet by two federal agents, his expensive coat ruined, his face pale with ruined defeat.
As they dragged Arthur past us, he glared at me with hollow, defeated eyes.

I stood tall beside Frank and Anthony, feeling no fear, only the immense warmth of justice finally served.
The rain began to slow, turning into a gentle mist as dawn began to break across the Chicago skyline.
