Chapter 12 - The Transcript of Truth

|

The boardroom was engulfed in an uproar as board members shouted questions and demanded explanations from corporate counsel.

Victor’s face transformed from pale shock into mottled, furious rage as he pointed a trembling finger at Clara.

"She's lying!" Victor screamed, his voice cracking with hysteria.

"She’s a twenty-dollar-an-hour court clerk trying to protect her meal ticket with forged harbor garbage!"

Clara did not raise her voice by a single decibel, her seven years of courtroom experience making her master of the room.

"I do not forge documents, Victor," she said, her voice slicing through the noise with chilling authority.

"I transcribe reality, and the physical evidence does not care about your pedigree."

She laid the certified forensic accounting audits directly in front of the board chairman, pointing to each highlighted line item.

"On March 14, 2021, two million dollars was wired from Vale Logistics account 409 into 'Arden Maritime Holdings' in Grand Cayman."

"On August 22, 2023, another four million dollars was transferred to purchase a private estate in Monaco under Celeste Arden's name."

"And on the night Noah Whitmore was framed at dock four, Victor Vale paid three hundred dollars cash to a felon named Miller to plant stolen parts in his truck."

Celeste Arden looked at the federal marshals standing near the door, her composure completely disintegrating into panic.

"Victor forced me to sign those banking forms!" Celeste shrieked, backing away from the table with wild eyes.

"He told me that Roman would be ruined within six months and that we would control the entire trust together!"

"Shut your mouth, you stupid girl!" Victor roared, lunging toward Celeste before two federal marshals grabbed his arms and slammed him onto the conference table.

The metallic click of handcuffs echoed through the silent boardroom like a gunshot.

"Victor Vale, you are under arrest for federal wire fraud, grand larceny, and testamentary forgery," District Attorney Brody announced.

"Celeste Arden, you are under arrest as an active co-conspirator in federal money laundering."

Celeste began sobbing uncontrollably as a female federal marshal snapped cuffs around her delicate, manicured wrists.

The board chairman stood up, his hands shaking as he reviewed the incontrovertible forensic proof presented by Clara.

"The emergency motion to remove Roman Vale is dismissed with prejudice," the chairman declared, looking at Roman with profound respect.

"Roman, your grandfather’s true, unadulterated will leaves this entire empire under your sole, permanent executive command."

Victor struggled violently against the marshals' grip as they hauled him toward the boardroom doors.

He glared at Clara with pure, unadulterated hatred, his voice spitting venom across the room.

"You ruined everything, you little gutter rat!" Victor hissed as he was dragged into the hallway.

Clara watched him go without a single trace of pity in her clear blue eyes.

"The record is officially closed, Victor," she whispered softly.

Once the federal agents, prosecutors, and disgraced executives cleared the floor, the remaining board members congratulated Roman and filed out.

The massive boardroom fell completely silent, leaving only Roman and Clara standing under the chandeliers.

Roman walked around the long table until he stood in front of her, his tall frame trembling with an overwhelming wave of emotion.

He looked down at the court reporter who had walked into his life to save her brother and ended up saving his entire soul.

"You dismantled my enemies in twenty minutes without firing a single shot," Roman said, his voice thick with wonder and awe.

"I told you on the courthouse steps," Clara said, looking up at him with a soft, tired smile.

"I always protect the truth."

Roman reached out, took her hand into his, and brought her knuckles to his lips with profound reverence.

"You saved my family's honor, Clara," he whispered, looking into her eyes.

"Now let me spend the rest of my life showing you what you truly mean to me."
