Chapter 15 - A Crown of Loyalty

Six months later, the golden warmth of late spring transformed the historic Valenti estate into an emerald paradise.
The charred ruins had been completely cleared away, replaced by a magnificent stone manor designed with wide open arches and sunlit terraces.
The vast surrounding acres of rolling meadows had been converted into the Valenti Canine Foundation—the premier rehabilitation and training sanctuary for working dogs and tactical K-9s in North America.
Dante had completely restructured his syndicate holdings, stepping out of the illicit shadows to establish legitimate private security, maritime logistics, and global real estate enterprises.
The underworld bowed to his power, but the city now respected his legitimate authority.
I stood on the wide stone terrace overlooking the green lawns, dressed in a flowing lavender sundress that caught the gentle morning breeze.
In the distance, a dozen beautiful black hounds were running joyfully across the grass, guided by professional trainers.
A deep, familiar rumble sounded beside my knee as Orion leaned his massive weight against my leg.
His shoulder had healed completely, leaving only a faint, dignified silver scar beneath his dense midnight fur.
"Enjoying your kingdom, handsome?" I whispered, scratching behind his ears exactly as I had done on that fateful night in the restaurant.
Orion's tail thumped rhythmically against the stone terrace, his amber eyes glowing with absolute contentment.
Strong, warm arms wrapped around my waist from behind, pulling me securely against a broad, muscular chest.
Dante rested his chin against my shoulder, breathing in the scent of my hair.
He wore a simple white linen shirt with the sleeves rolled up, looking relaxed and happier than I had ever seen him.
"The board approved the new international veterinary hospital wing this morning," Dante murmured into my ear.
"Your father would be so damn proud of what you've built here, Elena."
"We built it together," I replied, turning in his embrace and wrapping my arms around his neck.
Dante smiled, the sharp, cold lines that once defined his face completely softened by love and peace.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small velvet box.
He sank down onto one knee on the sun-warmed stone terrace, looking up at me with eyes full of unwavering devotion.
Orion immediately sat beside Dante, looking between the two of us as if he were officiating the moment himself.
"Olivia Marshall... Elena Valenti... you are the fiercest, most beautiful soul I have ever known," Dante said, opening the box to reveal a breathtaking emerald ring flanked by two brilliant round diamonds.
"You taught this old hound how to love, and you gave me a reason to fight for a future."
"Will you do me the greatest honor of my life and become my wife?"
Tears of overwhelming happiness spilled down my cheeks as I looked from the man I loved to the faithful hound who had brought us together.
"Yes," I cried, laughing through my tears.
"A thousand times yes, Dante!"
Dante slid the ring onto my finger and stood up, pulling me into a passionate, sweeping kiss that echoed the promise of a lifetime.
Orion threw his massive head back and let out a joyful, booming bark that echoed across the Hudson Valley.
Seven months ago, I was an exhausted waitress with aching feet, praying for an easier shift and petting a lonely dog at table twelve.
Now, I had my family's legacy, an unbreakable empire, the most devoted guardian in the world, and the love of a lifetime.

Some people say that touching the mafia don's hound was the most dangerous mistake of my life.
I know it was the greatest miracle that ever happened to me.
