Chapter 14 - A New Order

|
Three months passed, and the bitter winter snow melted into the soft, blooming green of a Boston spring.
The heavy black gates of the Bellini estate stood wide open during the day, welcoming legitimate maritime logistics partners.
Dominic had dismantled every illegal operation tied to his family name, transferring all assets into clean commercial shipping.
Arthur Pendelton and Marcus Vance were convicted on federal racketeering charges, sentenced to thirty years without parole.
The dark, oppressive atmosphere that had once haunted the massive seaside mansion was completely gone.
Vibrant bouquets of fresh white lilies and yellow daffodils filled the crystal vases in the grand marble entrance hall.
Soft classical music played through the downstairs speakers in the afternoons, and sunlight poured through clean, uncurtained glass.
The household staff moved with light footsteps and bright smiles, having received generous salary increases and healthcare benefits.
Emma Collins walked down the grand staircase wearing a sophisticated tailored navy pantsuit and pearl earrings.
She was no longer wearing an apron, and she no longer carried a silver serving tray.
Her office on the second floor was equipped with the latest financial computing terminals, overlooking the blooming gardens.
She had officially been appointed Chief Financial Controller of Bellini Maritime Enterprises, earning a six-figure salary.
"Good morning, Director Collins," Mrs. Alvarez said warmly, handing Emma a folder of quarterly shipping projections.
The elderly housekeeper beamed with pride, treating Emma like her own daughter.
"The European export audits look exceptional, Mrs. Alvarez," Emma smiled, checking the figures on the first page.
"The ports in Rotterdam have cleared all our green-energy cargo without a single delay."
"Mr. Bellini is waiting for you on the south terrace," Mrs. Alvarez replied, a knowing, mischievous sparkle in her eyes.
Emma closed the folder, her heart doing a familiar little flutter at the mention of his name.
Even after three months of working side-by-side to rebuild his family’s legacy, the sight of Dominic still took her breath away.
She walked through the French doors leading out onto the expansive stone terrace overlooking the sparkling blue ocean.
A gentle spring breeze carried the scent of salty sea air and fresh blossoms across the balustrade.
Dominic stood by the stone railing, dressed in a crisp white dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up, watching the waves roll in.
When he heard the click of her heels against the stone, he turned around, his handsome face lighting up with genuine joy.
"You're late for our morning briefing, Director," Dominic teased gently, extending his hand toward her.
"I was reviewing the Rotterdam shipping manifests, Mr. Bellini," she retorted with a playful smile, sliding her hand into his.
"You run a very demanding company."
May you like
Dominic pulled her into his arms, kissing her softly on the lips beneath the warm morning sunshine.
"I don't care about the company, Emma," he murmured against her mouth. "I only care about you."
