Chapter 12 - The Fall of the Bellinis|

Sirens wailed in the distance as morning broke over the battered estate, though no municipal police dared to enter the gates.

This was syndicate business, and Luca Moretti was the undisputed ruler of the district.

By noon, the rain had completely stopped, replaced by a cold, cleansing autumn wind that swept away the smell of gunpowder.

In the underground vaults beneath the Bellini manor in Lake Forest, Luca's men found the final pieces of the puzzle.

Locked inside Antonio Bellini's private safe was the original ledger detailing every bribe paid over the last decade.

Among the papers were wire transfers proving Vanessa had paid the mechanic fifty thousand dollars to tamper with Caroline's brakes.

There were also recorded phone calls revealing their plan to kidnap Ava and force Luca into surrendering the entire shipping empire.

Luca did not seek private vengeance in the shadows; he summoned the entire Syndicate Commission to the historic Chicago Union Hall.

Twelve powerful crime bosses sat in leather chairs around a massive circular table, listening in stunned silence.

Luca placed Caroline's handwritten letter, the financial ledgers, and the audio recordings directly into the center of the room.

Beside the evidence, Marco dumped a heavy canvas bag containing the weapons recovered from the mercenaries who invaded the Moretti home.

"The Bellini family did not fight a turf war," Luca addressed the council, his voice cold, steady, and merciless.

"They used murder against an innocent mother."

"They planted listening devices in a child’s bedroom."

"And last night, they sent armed killers to slaughter my daughter in her sleep."

The oldest don on the commission, an eighty-year-old patriarch from New York, slowly stood up from his chair.

"There are rules that govern our world, Luca," the old man said, his voice trembling with disgust.

"Women and children are sacred under the code."

"The Bellinis have broken the oldest covenant of our ancestors."

With a single unanimous vote, the commission stripped the Bellini family of every asset, title, and protection they held.

Within hours, federal agents—acting on anonymous documents delivered directly to their headquarters—raided every Bellini compound.

Don Antonio Bellini was arrested for racketeering, conspiracy to commit murder, and interstate trafficking.

Vanessa Bellini was apprehended at O'Hare International Airport, carrying two forged passports and a suitcase of cash.

As the handcuffs were locked around her manicured wrists, she wept openly on national television, abandoned by every friend she had ever bought.
