Chapter 14 - The Final Contract
|
The winter brought a blanket of snow that softened the hard edges of the city.
Inside the boardroom of the newly completed Voss-Moretti tower, lawyers scrambled to finalize the ultimate merger.
It was not a marriage certificate, but a binding corporate and syndicate constitution.
Serena sat at the head of the massive glass table, reviewing the final clauses with a meticulous eye.
Luciano sat to her right, watching her with a quiet, undeniable pride.
“Are we ready to execute?” the lead attorney asked nervously, intimidated by the sheer gravity of the room.
Serena picked up a gold fountain pen, tracing her thumb over the nib.
“Clause 4B states that in the event of a disagreement on territorial expansion, the decision goes to arbitration,” she noted.
“Strike it.”
The lawyer blinked. “Strike it, Ms. Voss? What will replace it?”
Serena looked at Luciano, a wicked, beautiful smile playing on her lips.
“In the event of a disagreement, Mr. Moretti concedes,” she said smoothly.
The room held its breath.
Luciano threw his head back and laughed, a booming sound that echoed off the glass walls.
“Amend the document as she says,” Luciano ordered, wiping a tear of mirth from his eye.
“I learned a long time ago never to bet against her.”
The lawyers frantically adjusted the paperwork and printed the final copies.
Serena signed her name with a bold, sweeping flourish.
Luciano signed beneath it, their names locked together in ink, an unbreakable covenant of power and mutual respect.
They dismissed the legal team, leaving the two of them alone in the boardroom suspended in the clouds.
“You drive a hard bargain, Ms. Voss,” he teased, standing up and walking toward her.
“I only accept the best terms, Mr. Moretti,” she replied, standing to meet him.

He pulled her in by the waist, his lips crashing down on hers with a passionate, consuming fire.
She kissed him back, pouring every ounce of her strength, her love, and her triumph into the embrace.
